Build Your GI Biome+
Why modular?
Most people waste money on unnecessary markers when buying a microbiome test. Modular testing allows you to select the key markers for you, based on your symptoms.
The best bit? You can check your progress by re-testing specific markers at a later date - and only pay for that marker.
Shotgun Sequencing
We're one of the few tests that uses Shotgun Sequencing. Unlike 16S or PCR - you get enhanced detection of bacterial species, increased detection of your gut diversity and we can even see how your genes impact your gut health.
This can be essential if you ever need to work with a practitioner or nutritionist.
Make data driven changes
Starting with the data helps you focus on identifying and addressing the underlying issues that can lead to discomfort, pain, and a range of other problems.
Should you test?
You might be surprised what you find. Advanced stool testing can give you incredible insight into your microbiome, inflammatory levels & overall health markers.
You can then use this data to make specific lifestyle changes.
The GI Biome+ can be done from the comfort of your own home.

What happens next?
Hopefully your markers are well within normal ranges & we can offer some simple dietary & lifestyle advice to make improvements based on your data.
For those with more chronic health conditions or elevated markers - our in-house nutritionist will contact you directly to discuss your results.
We can then suggest Gutology recommended practitioners for you to partner with based on your symptoms. As we use Shotgun Sequencing and only relevant markers, your test can be interpreted by a qualified practitioner if necessary.
What Gutology customers say
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there any practitioner support after receiving my results?
We have a list of practitioners we can recommend should you need further support.
I don’t have any digestive issues, should I take a microbiome test?
Your microbiome can change rapidly in response to stress, illness, medication, diet or travel. This in turn can influence your behaviour, mood, personality and even our preferences for food and partners.
Is there any medication that would affect testing?
It is not recommended to change or stop any prescribed or regular medications or supplements without seeking advice from a qualified medical professional. Some medications (such as antibiotics or PPI's) and supplements (such as probiotics) are known to have an impact on the test results and we'll advise you on this before you take your test.
Is testing suitable for children?
Microbiome testing is suitable from 2 years of age, as by that time the microbiome is fully developed.
If you are looking to purchase for someone under the age of 18, please speak with our customer service team ahead of purchase and they can support you with this.
How long does it take for my results to come back?
The turnaround time for the test results is a maximum of 15 working days.
I recently had a colonoscopy. How long do I need to wait until I can do the test?
Generally speaking it is best to wait at least 4 weeks following colonoscopy to let the gut settle after the procedure.
What if I make a mistake collecting my sample?
Not to worry, we can send a replacement test kit out to you free of charge.
Do I have to pay for postage when sending off my sample?
No, we provide you with a free returns shipping label.
What should I do if I have further questions about testing or taking my sample?
Speak to us via our Live Support on the website, which will put you in touch with one of our expert nutritionists.
Would this be different to NHS testing?
Microbiome testing dives deep into the gut looking for root causes of health issues, focussing on more than simple symptom management.
Many of these markers are not available through NHS testing and can be very useful if you decide to work with a nutritionist or qualified functional practitioner.
While we believe that our Service can be beneficial in many ways, it is not intended to diagnose, prevent, or treat any medical condition.
Can I buy this test outside of the UK?
The GIBiome+ is currently only available in the UK.
